I like UFX better then UP, I suggest Paint Shop Pro 7 (the newer versions suck) or GIMP for serious editing.

effects browser
The thumbnail effects browser is nice, you can see the transformed results all at once.
All features work on Windows XP, I have used this on newer versions including Windows 10 as of 2017-07-17.
Not all features may work with your OS. I have lost the install file unfortunately, but it seems to work
fine like this. Hope it works for you too.
usable from within winzip
You dont even have to unzip this program to use it. You can browse from inside the zip, open with winzip and click on the exe file.
desktop features
not only can you export the viewed picture to your wallpaper, but you can export to the windows startup screen, the waiting screen or the shutdown screen. Ultimate Paint disables this feature on the free product they offer. but Ultimate Effects (aka, Ultimate FX) still has it enabled.
TWAIN capture
scanners, cameras, etc. file >> select source to point to the correct device, then file >> acquire to get the images.
registration
this is outdated information, see the authors web page for registration. UFX is an outdated product no longer offered by ultimatepaint.com.
