Unzip to its designated folder. The graphical interface is the file MP3gainGUI.exe, create a shortcut and place on your desktop for ease of use.
By default mp3gain will include all subdirectories, set this in options. add files or add folders will load up your music files. Track analysis is handy to determine if your files are well formatted. Track Gain is what you use to normalize the volume. target "normal" volume is the text box above the files window, this is the median gain that the mp3 files will be set to, set at 89 by default, I prefer 95. Try it out on only a few files to make sure you are satisfied with the sound level. You can also drag and drop files into the mp3gain window.
It took about 18 hours on a 350mhz to normalize 2400 files. I have found only one mistake, which I quickly corrected by using the very handy Undo Gain Changes option. Right click on the file in the mp3gain files window and you will see this option about halfway down the context menu.
